Jose Mourinho is shocked by the state of Manchester United's management structure.
The Manchester Evening News says he has been publicly critical of players and hit by two FA charges for separate incidents involving referees.
Sources say Mourinho has been frustrated by some of the structure he has inherited as he looks to mount a credible title challenge in his first season in charge.
Mourinho has traditionally been able to focus fully on first team affairs in his trophy-laden spells at Porto, Chelsea and Real.
But he has taken over at Old Trafford at a time when the club is still reeling from Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013 – and recovering from the failed regimes of David Moyes and, to a lesser extent, Louis van Gaal.
Despite voicing his frustrations about life in Manchester, Mourinho is understood to be absolutely determined to turn around what has been an unconvincing start at United.
